Last league game for graduating Huskies HOCKEY ALUMNI TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS SATURDAY NIGHT
Saturday, February 18 marks the last home league game for four Huskie hockey players. Dean Serdachny, Keegan McAvoy, Thomas Vicars and Dean Beuker will play their final regular season game at Rutherford, as they graduate this upcoming spring after four years of competition.
Prior to tomorrow's game against the University of Regina Cougars, Huskie hockey alumni will make presentations to the graduating Huskies: Quinn Sherdahl, a four-year member of the Huskie hockey team, and two former captains and five-year players, Jeremy Rondeau and Jeff Henkleman.
Huskies head coach Dave Adolph had this to say about his graduating players...
Dean Serdachny came to us from the Swift Current Broncos and has really made a presence, not only in the dressing room but also on the ice. Dean will graduate from the College of Agriculture, with outstanding grades and will be a first-round candidate for any job in the field of agriculture. A fierce competitor and an unbelievable gentleman.
Keegan McAvoy joined us at Christmas time in the 2002 season, after a stint in the East Coast Hockey League. Keegan joined the Huskies and has been an invaluable presence on the ice ever since. His character both on and off the ice have made the Huskies the contenders that they are. A gifted scorer and a very physical presence, Keegan has contributed in many ways to the Huskies success. If you’re looking for someone to sell ice to Eskimos, give Keegan a call. He’ll be very successful in his future endeavours.
Four years ago, the Huskies were looking to solidify their goaltending position with not only a quality student athlete, but someone who could carry us in regular season and playoffs with his ability. Thomas Vicars answered that call. Thomas Vicars will graduate at the end of this year with a business economics degree. Thomas has been an outstanding goaltender in Canada West and the CIS in all four years that he’s played here. The Huskies thank Thomas for his contributions both on and off the ice, and look forward to more contributions in our chase for a CIS Championship.
From Watson, Sask. the Huskies found a three-time Canada West and two-time CIS scoring champion. This journeyman forward from the Western Hockey League has provided the Huskies with all-star performances in his all four years as a Huskie. Dean Beuker has contributed to the Huskies in every facet of the game. A fierce competitor, a fantastic person, Dean will be surely missed by the Huskies.
