Oh, what a come back! FIVE SHORTHANDED GOALS LEAD TO HUSKIE VICTORY

SASKATOON SK - Two long-time rivals met tonight in Saskatoon, the CIS number one ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the University of Calgary Dinos. And did Calgary ever to come to play. With a 4-0 lead, the fans that packed Rutherford Rink thought there was no hope for their hometown favourites, but the Huskies scored four unanswered goals in the final period to record the 6-4 victory. Watson-native Dean Beuker led the Dogs with three goals and one assist.

Forward Dan Lapointe opened up the scoring for Calgary just after the 12-minute mark of the first. The visitors went on to get two score two more goals within the next two minutes, from Travis Friedley and Jevon Desautels. The Dinos held their lead until the end of the period.

1:05 into the second, with Huskie forward Trent Adamus in the box, the Dinos scored on the powerplay, this time a goal from Colin McRae. Four different goal scorers on four different goals, but the Huskies went on to get two goals to finish up the second. Canada West scoring leader Dean Beuker put the Huskies on the board at 3:05 on a Huskie powerplay and Captain Brent Twordik finished up the period scoring at 16:50 with the Huskies shorthanded. The Huskies outshot the Dinos 20-3 in the second.

The Huskies were unstoppable in the third, scoring four shorthanded goals. With two more goals from Beuker, another from Twordik, and Adamus adding one of his own, the Huskies clinched their victory in a roaring Rutherford Rink.

The Huskies outshot the Dinos 45-24. Scott Talbot was goaltender for the Dinos, while Jeff Harvey played betwee the posts for the Dogs. Calgary was 1/10 on the powerplay, while Saskatchewan was 1/11. The three game stars were: Twordik, Beuker and Curtis Austring.

The Dinos drop to 7-10-2 with the loss, while the Huskies improve their record to 13-3-3, maintaining their number one position atop the Canada West Great Plains Division. The two teams will meet again on Sat, Jan. 14 at 7:00pm at Rutherford Rink. Great Prizes once again: two tickets to Brooks & Dunn concert, FREE Hummer rental and FREE month's storage.
