Hockey Dogs nab road win
Huskies 4, Cougars 2
It was not a pretty win, but the University of Saskatchewan Huskies will take it. On the road, and unable to get into a rhythm, the men’s hockey team pulled out a 4-2 victory against the University of Regina Cougars. “We really struggled to score,” said Huskies head Coach Dave Adolph. “Were having a really tough time putting teams away. We get up early, but can’t put them away.” Brent Twordick netted two for the Huskies. Shawn Langen and Keegan MacAvoy added the others. The game was tied at one going into the second. It was a close contest for most of the night, but a strong third period is what separated the two teams. “We managed to do well enough in the third period for the win,” Adolph said. Twordick potted a late empty net goal to alleviate any chance of the Cougar comeback. Adolph singled out MacAvoy as the team’s brighest light who “was generating a lot of chances.” Adolph hopes to see more consistant, steady play from his team as the playoffs approach. “As always, it is very important that we improve our game.” Saskatchewan and Regina play again Saturday, 7 p.m. at Rutherford Arena
