The Cougars showed their desire for vengeance over their provincial rivals tonight, as they scored their first goal at 13:50 of the first period and never let up the lead throughout the whole game. Rookie Blair Stengler scored the Cougars first goal. A couple minutes later, on a Huskies powerplay, Captain Brent Twordik would come close but end of hitting the post. But moments later, d-man Derek Endicott took a shot from the blue line. The puck deflected off Cougar netminder Nathan Fischl, when Twordik shot again. Graduating Huskie Keegan McAvoy would get the rebound this time to put it past Fischl to tie up the game. Fifth-year Chad Anderson would respond again for the Cougars less than two minutes later, putting the visitors up 2-1 going into the second.

At 7:58 of the second, the Huskies tied it up again, this time with the goal coming from rookie Evan Folden after a scramble in Cougar territory. The Cougars couldn't leave the game tied for much more than five minutes though. With the Cougars on the attack, the Huskie defense was working hard in front of their netminder Vicars. A scramble in front of Vicars landed him down on the ice. With the puck sitting idle in the crease and Vicars not able to get to it in time, Caine Pearpoint backhanded it in top shelf. The Cougars would get one more goal in the second, from Jason Weitzel, They would hit the post at the end of the second but that was all, leading 4-2 going into the third period.

The Huskies opened up the scoring early in the third on a powerplay. Bryce Thoma passed across the blue line to Derek Endicott, who pushed it through the Cougars defenseman to Thoma, who slipped it right between the post and Fischl. The game was back to a one-goal difference, but not for long. At 6:23 Chad Anderson recorded his second goal of the game, and the eventual game winner. The Huskies Curtis Austring would score 30 seconds later, but it wouldn't be enough as time ran out for the Dogs.

The Huskies outshot the Cougars 35-29. The Huskies were 2/5 on the powerplay, while the Cougars were 0/5.
